Expert Answers about Back Up Alarm

  • Can the Volume of the Hopkins Backup Sensor System Be Controlled
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System part # HM60100VA does not allow for anyone to control the volume of the alarm. That said, if you ever don't want to hear the alarm you can easily unplug this and then plug it back in when needed. The Pollak Heavy-Duty Back-Up Alarm part # PK41761 does have an adjustable volume though but this could not be done from inside the cab as frankly that is just not a feature that is available for any of the back-up alarm systems.

  • Will Installing Trailer Wiring Disable the Backup Sensors and Alarm on a 2008 Land Rover LR 2
  • There are some things to consider first. I do not recommend pulling the fuse for the back up sensors or disconnecting anything in the system because there may be a time when you forget to reconnect it and you might need it. Also, the sensors and alert should only go off when you are in reverse. While driving forward, the alarm should not go off. So you have to consider how much you will be backing up and if that is really enough to make you want to disable the system. Adding the trailer...

  • Will Back-Up-Alarm Sensors be Affected when Installing Hitch # 75338 on a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Installation of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75338 on the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee does not affect the back-up-alarm sensors and will not have a negative impact on the sensors. The only affect you may notice is that when a trailer is connected to the vehicle the backup alarm may sound when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. If your 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the OEM tow hook, most do not, it will need to be removed which will require removal of the rear fascia, plastic bumper support...

  • Alarm Location When Installing Hopkins Backup Sensor System HM60100VA
  • The audible warning alarm included with the Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA is loud enough that you can install it at the rear of the vehicle's interior. So long as the alarm has a reasonably direct path to your ears you will not have trouble hearing its unique beeping sound. Also, when you're backing up you'll know to listen for the alarm anyway. If it were placed further up front it could be startling to passengers.

  • Can the Alarm on Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA Be Easily Turned Off
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount, # HM60100VA, is designed to be wired in with the reverse light circuits so it will only be operating when in reverse and not while towing or parked. If you are still concerned about that annoying alarm, what you can do is to mount the actual alarm in an easily accessible location. The wire lead on it is not very long and has a connector on the end that connects to a longer strip of wiring that goes back to the sensor....

  • Towing Trailer with Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA Installed
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA that you referenced is designed to wire into the reverse light circuit on your vehicle. This means that the alarm will only sound when backing up the vehicle and not while towing or parked with a trailer attached. If you are worried about the alarm going on when backing up with a trailer attached, you can pretty easily disable it by mounting the alarm in an accessible location and unplugging the wire leads that connect behind the unit. We have...

  • How Would a Custer Back-Up Alarm Install on a Reverse Light Circuit of a Vehicle with a 7-Way
  • What you could do to install this Surface Mount Back-up Alarm # BK97DB is install it inline with the purple wire of your 7-way. You would cut the purple wire and then attach one end of the wire to one of the contact studs and then attach the other wire to the other stud, and then when there is voltage on this circuit the voltage will run through the # BK97DB activating the alarm and then go to the 7-way. I attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring for you to check out also.

  • How Is the Peterson Back Up Alarm for Trucks and Vans Installed
  • You can install something like the Peterson Backup Alarm for Trucks and Vans - Round - 12V/24V - 102 dB # 786-102 by mounting it to the back of the bumper or the vehicle's frame. You'll need to find the reverse light circuit on your vehicle (or 7 way trailer plug) and tap into that in order to provide the power to the alarm so that it activates when you shift into reverse; from there, the other wire will just need to be grounded and you're good to go. If you don't have a circuit tester...

  • Will Use of T-One Harness 118384 For Extra Lights Cause 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 to Detect Trailer
  • The use of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118384 for additional lights and a backup alarm will result in your truck detecting a trailer. Anything that draws power on your 2022 Silverado 2500 trailer wiring will make your truck think a trailer has been hooked up. If you don't want that to happen you would have to wire the additional lights and alarm in directly instead of using a 4-way.

  • Where to Tap Into Reverse Light Circuit to Install Trailer Connector Adapter with Backup Alarm
  • To wire in the reverse light wire on Curt 7-Way connector # C57102 for the back up alarm to work you will need to tap into a reverse light wire behind a reverse light on your 1999 Dodge Ram. If you do not wish to tap into the wire there then you can trace the harness to a more accessible location. Then use a circuit tester such as # PTW2991, to find the correct wire before tapping into it. Be sure that the white ground wire on the 7-Way is attached to the truck frame. Otherwise the harness...

  • Backup Alarm Sounds On 2013 Mini Paceman After Installing M7 Speed MINI Ultimate Utility Hitch
  • I checked out the reviews for the M7 Speed MINI Ultimate Utility Hitch Receiver part # 327-60-160200 and was not able to find anyone else with this issue. I'm not sure if the sensors are going off with or without an accessory attached but I could see either way honestly due to its unique design. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. I recommend looking through your owner's manual to see if the sensors can be temporarily disabled via the in-dash settings. If not, you're either going...

  • Can Thule Elite Van XT be Installed Without Interferring with Backup Camera on 2019 MB Sprinter 2500
  • It's pretty safe to assume that anything installed on the rear of your 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500, including the Thule Elite Van XT # TH302043, will be in the way of your backup camera which will set off that alarm. This is just the nature of backup cameras/sensors and the only way to get around this is by disabling the alarm, but you will want to make sure you set the alarm back to "on" when you aren't carrying the bike rack. I wish I could say there is a way to accomplish what...

  • Is There an Alarm Function on the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System
  • It sounds like you're asking about whether or not the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with 4 Cameras # RVS-062710 has a sensor system built in that gives audible alerts. The Rear View Safety Backup Camera System you're looking at normally is triggered by open circuits as you turn on different functions on your coach; it does not have a sensor system built into it that will give audible alerts when backing up. This system also has an audio feature/microphone built in so that someone...

  • Will Trailer Hitch Affect Backup Alarm and Side Assist on 2014 Audi Q5 TDI with Bike Carrier
  • With no bikes loaded on your rack, the sensors would not detect the rack and go off. With bikes loaded, most likely the sensors would sense the bikes. The sensors are only active when you are in reverse though. So it's not like you would have to deal with them going off all the time. You would just have to be extra careful when backing up and be mindful of the additional length of the bikes and rack off the back of your vehicle. A bike rack is not likely to affect your side assist, although...

  • The Galeo Pro GPS Tracking Device with Motion Sensor and Theft Alert # GA94FR will only send an alert to your smart phone through the Galeo app when it detects the trailer has moved per the GPS. It will not detect movement inside the trailer or a door opening to cause an alert. For your Android phone you will get a push notification but it will also depend on how your phone is set up for notifications from the app since that can be adjusted by the user.
